UN selects Yemeni engineer to participate in Youth Climate Summit

SANAA, Sept. 11 (YPA) – Yemeni chemical engineer Omar Badakhn was chosen by the United Nations from among 7,000 candidates from around the world to attend the Youth Climate Summit to kick off on September 21 in New York City.

“The summit is the largest gathering of climate leaders at the United Nations and represents a platform for young leaders who are active in climate action to highlight their solutions to climate problems,” Badakhn told Yemen News Agency (Saba).

He pointed out that 500 young people from all over the world were selected to attend the summit after demonstrating their commitment to address the climate crisis and for their pioneering role in developing the solutions.

Omar Badakhn is the founder and CEO of “Solutions for Sustainable Communities” Company. He won the United Nations’ Green Pioneer Award for the 2017 Young Champions of the Earth. He holds a degree in chemical engineering and is a specialist in biochemical engineering and renewable energy technology.
