Former US ambassador warns of attempts to divide Yemen

SANAA, July 29 (YPA) – The former US ambassador to Yemen Gerald Firestein has warned of attempts to separate Yemen, stressing that the secession would lead to Yemen’s fragmentation and division into several states.

“This will be a bad choice for all Yemenis,” Firestein said, noting that the option of secession would be disastrous for all Yemenis.

However, the US ambassador ruled out the success of the secession attempt in Yemen.

He explained that the world does not support the establishment of a southern Yemeni state, and that all the resolutions of the United Nations and the Security Council did not refer to that.

Since March 26, 2015, the United States of America has been leading an alliance of war on Yemen with the participation of 17 countries, topped by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
