6 Taliban militants killed in northern Afghanistan

SANAA, April 16 (YPA) – Six Taliban militants were killed and nine others arrested in an operation by an Afghan special force in Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan.

“Special forces of the Afghan National Army carried out a security operation in the village of Kakar on the outskirts of the provincial capital of Kunduz, killing six militants,” A statement from the Afghan Defense Ministry said.

A vehicle, eight rocket-propelled grenades and eight landmines were also destroyed, the statement added.

Clashes between Afghan forces and Taliban militants have continued in about 25 of the country’s 34 provinces since early February, when the Taliban announced the start of the spring offensive.
