Sit-in committee renews rejection of Saudi occupation presence in Mahra

MAHRA, Jan. 22 (YPA) – The organizing committee of peaceful sit-in of people of Mahra province renewed its rejection of setting up any points or camps belonging to Saudi occupation forces on the territory of the province.

The Saudi occupation forces continue to violate the national sovereignty of Yemen by creating military barracks in a number of the province districts,” said the committee in a statement issued on Monday.

The statement indicated that these provocative acts and practices by the occupation and its militias have been rejected by residents in all districts of the province, and that they reveal the real endeavors and objectives of the Saudi-Emirati coalition in Yemen.

The committee said that it would continue its national demands through the peaceful means guaranteed by the Yemeni Constitution and law, affirming the right of tribesmen to reject the actions of Saudi forces and their militias on Mahra lands.

The statement called on the exiled Hadi’s government to intervene to stop these practices and violations against the national sovereignty, and to lift all armed manifestations and military points of the militias, until the situation returns as it was before November 2017, as well as handing over the border crossings of Sarfeet and Shahin to the Yemeni security services.

The statement also called on international organizations, led by the office of the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffiths, to form a fact-finding committee to expose all illegal practices and actions of Saudi forces and militias in the province.
