GAZA, Dec. 19 (YPA) – The Hamas movement condemned on Friday the approval by the finance minister of the extremist occupation government of Bezalel Smotrich on a plan to establish a new settlement city east of occupied city of Al Quds.
In a statement, the movement considered this step a dangerous escalation in the settlement and annexation project, and a new crime added to the record of the colonial occupation full of violations of international law.
The statement stressed that the plan is part of a systematic policy aimed at Judaizing Al Quds and isolating it from its Palestinian surroundings, and changing its character and identity, added that it is a blatant attack on the rights of the Palestinian people, their land and holy sites.
It warned that the continued expansion of settlements is a fuel for tension and instability in the region, holding the occupation government fully responsible for the repercussions of these colonial steps on the ground.
The movement called on the international community, the United Nations and its legal and human rights institutions to shoulder their responsibilities, take urgent action to stop settlement projects and impose deterrent measures against the occupation.
The statement called on the Palestinian people to strengthen their steadfastness and unity in the face of the plans of Judaization and uprooting.
