Journalist reveals UAE-run secret prisons in Shabwa

SHABAWA, Dec. 29 (YPA) – A journalist in Shabwa province revealed on Saturday secret detention centers inside the headquarters of the UAE-baked armed factions in the city of Ataq, the center of the province.

The journalist Saleh Haqrous, who was released by the UAE-affiliated “Shabwa Defense” factions, days after being kidnapped due to his posts, affirmed the existence of very narrow solitary inside the so-called “Second Shabwa Defense Brigade” camp in the city of Ataq.

Haqrous indicated in a post on Facebook that the kidnapped and detained people he met asked him to publish their names so that their families would know that they were alive.

He said that the Emirati-backed factions confined him between four walls without any communication with the outside world.

Haqrous called on human rights and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to reveal the fate of detainees and abductees in order to release them and hold accountable the leaders of the factions responsible for these violations.
