Saudi Arabia launches new campaign against Islah

MARIB, Nov. 13 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia launched on Sunday a new campaign against the Islah Party, its most prominent arm in Yemen, in Marib, Hajjah, Taiz and Jawf.

Sources familiar with the matter said Saudi Arabia stopped King Salman’s financial dues towards the Party, which was an alternative to the salaries that Saudi Arabia suspended months ago, after the Islah’s attempt to maneuver in order to achieve more gains, amid Saudi attempts to subjugate it.

Suspending clash dues came amid intensifying differences between the party and Saudi Arabia, in light of the Saudi pressure to evacuate the party’s factions from the oil and gas regions in eastern Yemen and to restructure its factions and subject them to a unified leadership, which the party rejects and considers an end to its project, especially after the continuous downsizing process in the south of Yemen.

The sources affirmed that Saudi Arabia used a lot of money to bring the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) under its control, and to force it to hand over its last strongholds.

The Saudi move might force hundreds of Islah fighters to voluntarily join the forces of its opponents there.
