Coalition militias arrest trade union committee of Aden Refinery

ADEN, Jan. 23 (YPA) – Militias loyal to Saudi-led coalition on Wednesday arrested members of the Aden Refinery Trade Union Committee who declared an open strike due to corruption at the economic facility.

One of the refinery employees told media sources that Aden Refinery’s director Mohammed al-Bakri appointed by the exiled Hadi has ordered the arrest of the trade union committee members against the background of the strike, which was carried out at the call of the workers’ committee at the refinery.

He explained that the workers closed the eastern and main gates of the refinery, ports and every site linked to corruption during the strike to demand their rights, calling for improving the refinery status and protecting it from plans aimed to destroy it.

The Aden Refinery Trade Union Committee organized several protesting vigils over the past few days, condemning corruption and threatening the strike.
