Report: Saudi occupation forces recruit foreign fighters in Yemen’s Mahrah

MAHRAH, Jan. 20 (YPA) -Al-Jazeera reported that it had obtained a report of the Human Rights office in Mahrah province in eastern Yemen on abuses by Saudi occupation forces stationed in the province.

According to Al-Jazeera, Saudi Arabia is exercising arbitrary arrests against civilians from the occupied military base at Ghadah airport and deport them to Riyadh.

The report noted that Saudi Arabia had dropped large quantities of weapons at the Ghadha airport and Nashton port, but deprived residents of their use. It also pointed out that Saudi occupation forces had turned the Ghadah airport and Mahrah port into military barracks.

Saudi forces have refused to allow the public prosecution or any official authority to visit the Al-Ghadah Airport for fact-finding, according to the report.

Saudi forces also reportedly have brought hardline Wahhabi militant groups to the Qishn district and provided them with money and arms, including light, heavy and medium weapons.

According to the report, Saudi Arabia has recruited troops of non-Yemeni nationalities and prevented Yemeni citizens from joining the military and security forces.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that the Saudi occupation has developed several military sites and barracks in Mahrah near the residences of citizens, which led to the forced evacuation of its residents. The Saudi forces have claimed Nashton port in order to serve its own interests, and decide single-handedly which goods will be allowed access to the province and which ones are banned or confiscated.
