Saudi forces control Yemeni Sarfait border port in Mahra

MAHRA, Dec. 3 (YPA) – Saudi forces on Monday took control of Sarfait border port of entry between Yemen and Oman.

An official source confirmed that several military armored vehicles accompanied by dozens of gunmen armed with various types of weapons arrived at the Sarfait port in Mahara province, eastern Yemen, after passing from the tourist Houf Reserve.

He added that security elements of Houf district tried to stop those forces to know their destination, but they continued their way without stopping towards the border port, the source added.

Mahra’s governor, loyal to Saudi Arabia, has appointed one of his relatives as a manger of the Sarfait port, after the former manager refused to allow Saudi forces to enter the port to control the work of customs illegally.

Citizens in Mahra considered giving Saudi forces control over the Sarfait port came as part of provocative steps taken by the governor to threaten the security and social peace in the province.
