LONDON, Dec. 20 (YPA) – Amnesty International on Friday called for measures to stop the ship “Holger G”, owned by a German company, carrying 440 tons of ammunition and military equipment to the Israeli occupation.
In a statement, the British-based organization said that the ship flied the Portuguese flag and sailed from India bound for Tel Aviv with 440 tons of explosive ammunition parts, missiles and Steel intended for military use on board.
The statement added that the cargo on board the ship, which sailed in mid-November, belongs to the Israeli defense industries companies “Elbit Systems” and”IMI Systems”.
It called on governments to prevent the ship from docking at their ports, due to the risk of the cargo being used in the ongoing genocide in occupied Gaza.
The statement quoted the director of the organization’s Global Research Department, Erika Guevara Rosas, as saying: ”tons of deadly cargo should not reach Israel, there is a high risk of using it for genocide and violations of international law committed against Palestinians”.
“Countries that maintain normal trade relations with Israel risk complicity in genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity,”she added.
