HADRAMOUT, Dec. 18 (YPA) – The “Dera Al-Watan” forces, backed by Saudi Arabia, announced on Thursday the start of an organized deployment across the Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.
The forces stated their objective is to secure vital sites and main roads, with field reports confirming their arrival near the outskirts of Sayoun, the administrative center of the Hadramout Valley and Desert.
This deployment follows the evacuation of camps by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias, reportedly under threats of airstrikes.
While it remains unclear if this move is part of a mutual agreement or a unilateral Saudi military decision, the timing suggests a firm push to displace UAE-aligned factions.
The escalation comes just hours after a high-level meeting between Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman.
