8 killed, 40 injured as roadside bomb hits bus in Afghanistan

SANAA, July 31 (YPA)-A roadside bomb hit a Kabul-bound passenger bus in western Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing at least eight people and wounding around 40, mostly women and children, officials said.

“The incident resulted in the deaths of 8 people, including a woman and injuring 40 others, including women and children, “according to the media office of the provincial governor spokesman.

Passengers aboard a Mercedes 404 bus from Herat to the capital Kabul were bombarded by militants in Balabok district, the office added.

The same district witnessed violent clashes several weeks ago between Taliban and government soldiers, in one of the centers from which the rebels began to control the center of the city in mid-May.
