“Israel” assassinates Gaza’s police chief, his assistant

GAZA, Jan. 02 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation assassinated on Thursday Major General Mahmoud Salah, Director General of Police in the Gaza Strip, and his assistant, Major General Hossam Shahwan, a member of the Police Command Council in Khan Yunis, the Ministry of Interior and National Security said.

The ministry explained in a statement that the Israeli occupation targeted Salah by an airstrike while he was in Khan Yunis governorate and accompanied by Shahwan.

A number of citizens were killed also as a result of the raid, the statement added.
