SANAA, Dec. 05 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology expected a cold wave sweeping a number of Yemeni provinces.
In its weather bulletin, the center indicated that the weather would be very cold in parts of the mountainous provinces of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar and Bayda, in addition to Dhalea, Ibb, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, Marib and Jawf.
It also expected clear to partly cloudy weather and the possibility of rain clouds forming on the plain and coasts of northern Tihama and the Socotra Archipelago, with a maximum wind speed of 25 knots, while the weather in the desert areas would be clear with moderate winds.
The center called on citizens, especially the elderly, children, patients and workers during the late night and early morning hours, to take the necessary measures to protect themselves from cold and very cold weather.
It urged farmers to take the necessary precautions and follow agricultural instructions to protect their crops from the effects of severe cold weather, as well as livestock herders, beekeepers and poultry farmers.
The center also called on motorists to drive carefully as a result of the low horizontal visibility due to rain and water mist on mountain roads.
