Salaries crisis ignites first military rebellion against coalition in Taiz

TAIZ, Dec. 04 (YPA) – Members of the factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition blocked one of the most important main roads in Taiz province on Wednesday in protest against the interruption of their salaries by the pro-coalition government.

The gunmen, who are affiliated with the Islah Party, prevented the passage of goods and gas trucks from areas under the coalition control in the city of Taiz for the second day in a row, in protest against the cessation of salary payments since last October.

Local mediations failed to convince gunmen to open the road for trucks while allowing citizens’ cars to pass until their dues are paid.
Al-Dhabab area is witnessing armed tension due to sending other gunmen to open the road for the trucks and secure the area.

The pro-coalition government had withdrawn around $10 million from its Aden account at the Central Bank of Aden and CAC Bank to purchase fuel for the halted power stations.
