HADRAMOUT, Aug. 14 (YPA) – Hundreds of people from the countryside of the city of Mukalla, the center of Hadramout province in eastern Yemen, flocked on Tuesday to participate in the popular protests denouncing the collapse of services and in support of the positions of the “Hadramout Tribal Alliance.”
Media sources confirmed that hundreds of people from the Mukalla countryside, which is under the control of the pro-UAE Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions, gathered at the mass protest event in support of the escalation of “the Hadramout Inclusive Conference” and the steps taken by the Hadramout Tribal Alliance to extract legitimate demands.
This came after the “Hadrami Elite,” loyal to the STC, suppressed citizens coming from Al-Deis Al-Sharqiya, Gail Bawazir, and Al-Shahr and prevented buses carrying them in order to limit their entry into the city.
The protests are part of the tribal escalation called for by the Tribal Alliance and the Hadramout Inclusive Conference to pressure the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to recognize the rights of the people of Hadramout and the province’s percentage of oil revenues.
