Tribal leaders of Shabwa condemn UAE acts before holding funeral of “Ahmed Mas’ad Hussein”

SHABWA, May 04 (YPA) – Several tribal leaders from Shabwa Governorate condemned actions of UAE forces stationed in the governorate prior of holding funeral of the leader and politician Ahmed Mas’ad Hussein, who was laid to rest in his hometown in Nasab district, west of Ataq city, the governorate center.

In a statement, the tribal leaders of Shabwa condemned the Emirati forces’ refusal to issue a permit to receive Mas’ad’s body at Ataq Airport after his death last Monday in the Omani capital, Muscat.

The statement emphasized that many attempts by Shabwa tribal leaders and dignitaries to open the airport have failed, and their demands to open the airport have been ignored.

The statement considered the closure of Ataq Airport to the people of Shabwa and its use by the UAE as a military base is condemned and rejected.

The statement described these actions as shameful and unacceptable.

It called on the authorities in Shabwa loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to open Ataq Airport to the people of the governorate as it is a service institution aimed at alleviating the suffering of citizens.

Ataq Airport and other airports in Mukalla, Hadramawt, and Al-Ghaydah in Al-Mahra have become military bases for foreign forces, including American and British, with limited Israeli presence, according to leaders in the Mahra sit-in.
