Power outage in Aden exacerbates suffering of citizens

ADEN, 27 (YPA) – The coalition-held city of Aden, south of Yemen, has witnessed an unprecedented electricity service crisis, which has led to an increase of the power outage hours due to running out of diesel fuel.

The Aden-based General Electricity Corporation confirmed in a statement on Friday that running out of fuel led to sopping Al-Haswah thermal electric station, which led to the inability hours increasing to 8 hours compared to two hours of operation.

The statement indicated that the fuel stations have been stopped for more than a month, which has exacerbated the suffering of citizens.

It explained that the electricity service currently depends entirely on the Petromasila power station operating on crude oil, following the cessation of all stations operating on diesel.

The most of the southern provinces of Shabwa, Abyan and Lahj have been out of electricity service since the past months due to the depletion of diesel fuel and the disavowal of the coalition-backed government under the pretext of a severe economic crisis and a scarcity of resources.
