Islamic Jihad: Prisoner exchange with Israeli occupation will only occur under principle of all for all

GAZA, Dec. 20 (YPA) – The Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziad al-Nakhalah, said on Wednesday that “the exchange of prisoners with the Israeli occupation will only take place through the principle of all for all.”

Al-Nakhalah added in a statement that this would be within a political process agreed upon by the Palestinian people, represented by their political forces, led by the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas.”

He explained, “Going to Egypt comes with a clear vision, which is the cessation of the aggression, the Israeli occupation forces withdrawal from Gaza, and reconstruction.”

In this context, the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday to hold talks with Egyptian officials, the focus of which is reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and an exchange of prisoners with the Israeli occupation.

On the other hand, Zionist media reported that Tel Aviv informed Qatar of its readiness to conclude a truce in the Gaza Strip for a week, based on a willingness to release Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of about 40 Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance in the Strip.

A few days ago, the Hamas movement reiterated its position not to open any negotiations to exchange prisoners unless the aggression on the Gaza Strip stops once and for all and stated that it had communicated this position to all mediators.
