40 human rights orgs call on EU to stop Israeli aggression against Gaza

SANAA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – 40 Arab human rights organizations issued on Thursday a joint statement calling on the European Union (EU) to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

Dozens of organizations participated in issuing the statement, most notably the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, the Arab Council Foundation, the International Association of Lawyers, the Association for the Prevention of Torture in Geneva, the Arab Organization for Human Rights, and others.

The statement condemned the Israeli bombing of the Baptist Hospital, which caused the death of more than 500 people, most of whom were children, women and the elderly.

This is the 11th time that the Israeli occupation forces have targeted hospitals since the start of their aggression against Gaza, according to the statement.

The statement also reminded the European Union that the Israeli occupation policies towards the Gaza Strip mean that it is deliberately committing the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people, noting the Israeli occupation has killed nearly 4,000 Palestinians and injured about 11,000 others.

The human rights organizations’ statement explained that the absence of accountability encouraged the Israeli occupation authorities to continue their widespread violations against the Palestinians.

The statement called on the European Union to take all measures to oblige the Israeli occupation authority to stop its continuing aggression against the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian people in general.

It explained that the ICC prosecutor must be urged to initiate an immediate investigation into the war crimes of the Israeli occupation.

For the 13th day, the Israeli occupation continues to launch intensive raids on Gaza, cutting off the supplies of water, electricity, food and medicine to the Strip, which sparked local and international warnings of a double humanitarian catastrophe. In parallel, there were intense Israeli raids and arrests in the cities and towns of the occupied West Bank.
