Tanker truck drivers carry out all-out strike in Shabwa

SHABWAH, July 24 (YPA) -Tanker truck drivers staged a general strike for the third consecutive day, in protest against the levies and royalties imposed on them in Shabwa governorate, eastern Yemen.

Local sources said truck drivers went on strike at the entrance of Ataq, the provincial capital of the province, to reject the increase in improvement fees imposed by Shabwa authorities.

According to the truck drivers, the local authority imposed new levies on them under the name of “improvement fees,” without any legal justification.

Recently, the local authority in Shabwa governorate raised customs on one locomotive from 100,000 riyals to 3,000,000 riyals.
