Sudan ceasefire truce collapses, fighting resumes in central Khartoum

KHARTOUM, May 07 KHARTOUM, May 07 (YPA) – Renewed fighting between the Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) resumed on Airport Street in central Khartoum on Saturday evening, in  conjunction  with the start of talks between representatives of the two sides of the conflict in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

According to “Reuters”, these clashes are an extension of what was witnessed in the city of Bahri on the other bank opposite Khartoum from the Nile River, where the roar of warplanes was heard during the night and the sound of explosions panicked residents.

Both sides said they are only looking for a humanitarian truce and would not negotiate to end to the war.

RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, also confirmed the presence of his representatives.

He said he hoped the talks would achieve the desired goal, which is to open safe passage for civilians.
