Fisheries Ministry announces closure of shrimp catching season in Red Sea region

SANAA, April 16 (YPA) – The Ministry of Fish Wealth announced on Saturday the closure of the coastal shrimp catching season in the Red Sea region from Yemen’s territorial waters, as of Ramadan 24 1444 AH corresponding to April 15, 2023, until further notice.

In a decision it issued today, the ministry called on all those who practice the profession of shrimp fishing in the Red Sea region of Yemeni waters to remove shrimp-catching equipment, warning against practicing any shrimp-fishing activity during the closing season.

The ministry indicated that it would take legal penalties against those found to have violated the provisions of this decision, in accordance with the law regulating fishing.
