Abyan witnesses clashes between STC militias, tribes

ABYAN, Jan. 06 (YPA) – Armed confrontations broke out on Thursday between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia and tribesmen in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Tribal sources in the province said that the clashes erupted when members of the so-called “security belt” of the STC stormed a number of citizens’ homes in Modiya district by force of arms, without mentioning any material or human losses.

The sources stated that the militants of the Modiya tribes forced the STC militia to leave their villages, amid calls for the local authorities to stop the violations against the people of Abyan.
