Deputy PM meets UNICEF’s new Resident Representative in Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 17 (YPA) – The Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, met in Sanaa on Thursday with the UNICEF’s newly appointed resident representative in Yemen, Peter Hawkins, and the UNICEF’s former representative, Philip Duhamel, to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of his work period in Yemen.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination in the services, water and sanitation sectors in the capital Sanaa and the provinces

The projects implemented by the Ministry of Water and Environment, during the last period, with the support of UNICEF were reviewed during the meeting.

In the meeting, Maqboli affirmed keenness to strengthen partnership with UNICEF, the main and actual partner for the services sector, especially the Ministry of Water and Environment and its institutions and bodies.

Maqbouli praised the role of the former representative of UNICEF and his contributions in supporting efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in light of the continued aggression and siege.

He urged the UNICEF’s new representative to continue supporting health, water, environment services and other development projects.
