SEOUL, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The death toll from Seoul Halloween crowd surge has risen to 151 people, and 82 others have been injured, including 19 people in serious condition, South Korean authorities said on Sunday.
The stampede occurred during Halloween celebrations in Seoul’s downtown Itaewon entertainment district late Saturday evening, near the Hamilton Hotel in the famous nightlife district, after tens of thousands flocked to the area to celebrate Halloween.
This incident is the worst of its kind in South Korean history.
For its part, the Russian embassy in Seoul said that the three Russians lost their lives in the incident .
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Sunday announced a period of national mourning over a deadly Seoul stampede during Halloween celebrations.
