Emirati arrangements to move its militias through sea towards Mahra

SOCOTRA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – A number of Emirati officers headed a military committee arrived in the city of Hadibo, the capital of the occupied Socotra archipelago.

Local sources on the island confirmed that an Emirati military committee came from Abu Dhabi, in addition to leaders from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, arrived during the past hours at Socotra airport, coming from Aden, to complete the recruitment process of a new batch of the UAE-affiliated militia in Socotra.

The sources pointed out that the UAE military committee has begun the procedures of activating the fingerprint system for new recruits away from the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council and the Minister of Defense in the coalition-backed government.

The same sources said the military uniforms and weapons of the recruits will arrive from the UAE on board a ship in the coming days.

Last week, US troops and foreign experts arrived in the island Socotra.

According to the local sources said that a number of American yachts have arrived on the coast of the region of Delisha, five 5 km away from the city of Hadibo, the capitol of the island.

The UAE is moving to remove the elements it brought in from Dhalea and Yafea, out the island and deport them towards the governorate of Mahra, which is witnessing armed tensions between the “STC” and the people of Mahra who reject any presence of the UAE militia.

The UAE, which has been present since 2016 in Socotra, imposed its military control over the city of Hadibo, after expelling Islah militants from the island in June 2020, in a quick battle that took place with the complicity of the “Saudi 808 forces”, which are based on the island of Socotra.
