4 killed, 5 wounded in bloody clashes in Taiz

TAIZ, Sept. 20 (YPA) – About 9 militants, including civilians, were killed and wounded on Tuesday in bloody clashes broke out between Islah militants in the center of Taiz city, local sources said.

According to local sources in the city, verbal altercations between armed elements of the “Taiz axis” affiliated with Islah Party and gunmen loyal to the son of Judge Mahmoud al-Sabri, turned into clashes, leaving four people dead, including one of the carpet vendors, and seriously wounding five others.

The clashes took place near al-Thawra Hospital in center of the city.

Moreover, The Security officer of the “Third Battalion of the 22 Mika Brigade” was killed along with one of his escorts, but their names were not identified, the sources said.

Furthermore, that the Judge Sabri’s house came under heavy attack by Islah gunmen and looted his car, without mentioning the reasons for the confrontations.

Additionally, the Islah militants blocked and closed a number of streets and neighborhoods leading to the neighborhood of al-Thawra, amid expectations of renewed confrontations in the coming hours.
