Saudi Arabia Shuts down Islah-affiliated channel TV broadcasting from Riyadh

RIYADH, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia shut down a satellite channel affiliated with Islah party, which was broadcasting from the kingdom’s capital Riyadh, 8 years after it was launched in conjunction with the Saudi-led coalition starting the war on Yemen.

Saudi authorities had shut down “Al Shareia TV “, which was funded by them and laid off all its employees, Southern media, citing their sources.

The head of the Saudi24 group, which runs the channel, told its crew of their dismissal and the closure of its headquarters in Al Olaya area, Riyadh,  according to the sources.

Saudi intelligence established the channel “Al-Shareia” on March 26, 2015 and handed it over to “Islah” with the aim of using it before establishing channels for the Hadi government in Riyadh to justify its war on Yemen.

The sources confirmed that a similar Saudi action awaits the office of Suhail TV, which is owned by Islah party leader Hamid al-Ahmar.

This comes as part of the moves to turn the page on “Islah” and remove it from the political scene.
