One of leaders accused of terrorism returns to coalition-held Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 09 (YPA) – A prominent leader of the Islah party accused of terrorism has suddenly returned to Saudi-led coalition-held Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

Salah Batis, one of the leaders of the Party, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, said on Twitter, commenting on a meeting he had with the Hadramout governor, Mabkhout bin Madi, loyal to the UAE, in the city of Mukalla, the Hadramout provincial capital, “The time of dependence, surrender and submission has gone forever,” referring to the fact that Hadramout would not be affiliated with the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC).

“Soon the world will hear Hadramout’s voice of truth, pride and dignity,” added Bates, who is the head of the Yemeni community in Turkey and resides in Istanbul, after his visit to the headquarters of the First Military Region in Wadi Hadramout.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Bates, after arriving at Seiyun Airport, discussed with the leadership of the first military region the threats to confront the “STC” militia, which seeks to control the oil-rich district of Wadi.

Batis’ return came in defiance of the “STC” with the military tensions witnessing in the Wadi districts between the militants of the first region of Islah, and the STC militia, which demanded the expulsion of Islah militants from the province.
