Mine Center: 984 mines, cluster bombs collected within 2 weeks

SANAA, Aug. 16 (YPA) – The Executive Center for Mine Action in Sanaa on Tuesday revealed the removal and collection of “984” mines, cluster bombs and other remnants of the internationally-prohibited weapons of the Saudi-led coalition during the first half of August.

A source at the Center confirmed that these remnants were transported to safe places.

He explained that the center was also able, during the same period, to mark an area of 64,780 square meters, while the area cleared of mines and cluster bombs reached more than 57,372 square meters in Hodeida province and Nihm district in Sanaa province.

The center worked to raise awareness of “16,775” beneficiaries from various groups and segments of society in 11 districts about the dangers of mines and the remnants of the coalition weapons, the source added.
