Russia forces British drone to leave

SANAA, Aug. 16 (YPA) – Russia announced on Monday that a British drone violated its airspace, near Svyatoy Nos Cape in the northwestern Murmansk region, before forcing it to leave.

The Russian Defense Ministry said, in a news statement on Tuesday, that its air defense forces on duty discovered an unknown air target over the Barents Sea was heading to the borders of the Russian Federation.

“Through the measures implemented by the crew of the MiG-31BM, the British reconnaissance plane was forced out of the territory of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.

Relations between Moscow and Western countries, most notably Britain, are witnessing great tension, in light of the continuation of the Russian military operation against Ukraine.
