Resignations hit Riyadh-Formed Presidential Council

ADEN, Aug. 11 (YPA) -A journalist in the pro-coalition backed government revealed a succession of resignations from the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, in protest against the empowerment of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia for the sake of taking over Shabwah province, southeastern Yemen.

Nabil al-Assidi, official in the Journalists’ Syndicate, said that Sultan al-Arada submitted his resignation from the Council following the resignation of Abdullah al-Alimi, who is also a member in the council, in a protest against the Shabwah events and practices of Aidarous al-Zubaidi and the STC.

Other sources reported that Othman Majali submitted his resignation from the membership of the council as well.

He pointed out that there are intensive meetings to persuade them to refrain from resigning.
