US Navy tries to recover F-35 fighter jet that fell in South China Sea

SANAA, Jan. 26 (YPA) – The US Navy said on  Tuesday that it is making arrangements to recover an F-35C warplane that that fell in the South China Sea after a landing accident this week.

The US Navy announced that seven US military personnel were injured in Monday’s incident on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson.

I can confirm the aircraft impacted the flight deck during landing and subsequently fell to the water,” said Lieutenant Nicholas Lingo, spokesperson for the US 7th Fleet.

He  added, “The US Navy is making recovery operations arrangements for the F-35C aircraft.”

Asked about a press report published by  the British daily Mail, which suggested there were concerns that the plane might fall into the hands of Beijing, which claims most of the South China Sea, he replied, “We cannot speculate on their intentions in this regard.”
