UAE controls strategic military base in Shabwa

SHABWA, Jan. 20 (YPA) – The UAE-backed “Shabwani Elite” militias have tightened their control over the most important strategic base in the oil-rich province of Shabwa on the Arabian Sea.

Local sources in the province confirmed that the elite militia completed its control on Wednesday of the strategic “Morra” base, located west of Ataq city, the provincial capital, and expelled the Islah Party militants and the so-called “legitimacy” forces from it.

The sources stated that the governor loyal to the UAE in Shabwa, Awad Al-Wazir, directed the command of Morra camp loyal to Hadi’s government to hand it over to the Shabwani elite militia after its name was changed to the “Shabwa Defense Forces.”
