Local authority condemns coalition’s threats of targeting Hodeidah ports

HODEIDAH, Jan. 07 (YPA) – The local authority in Hodeidah condemned, in the strongest terms, the statements by the US-Saudi aggression regarding targeting the province’s ports.

In a statement, the Authority stressed that the statement is pure fabrications and lies, which clearly reveal its intentions and criminal approach.

“The ports of Hodeidah are the main artery for entering food and medicine for more than 80 percent of the Yemeni people, who have been suffering from the siege and restrictions imposed on it for nearly seven years. The lies being stated by the aggression are nothing but a continuation of using the economy and food as a war weapon. The United Nations reports, confirmed that it is a war crime and a flagrant violation of international norms and laws to target civilian facilities,” the statement read.

The local authority holds the US-Saudi aggression responsible of any crime that it may commit, and any harm to the ports of Hodeidah and the resulting humanitarian disaster.

The statement held the United Nations responsible for its continued silence towards the crimes and threats by the aggression, despite its supervision of the inspection mechanism for all ships entering the ports. This mechanism is in place to expose the allegations of the aggression and the cover for its crimes and intentions.

It called on the United Nations and the international community to take responsibility and stop all forms of threats issued by the US-Saudi aggression against the ports of Hodeidah, and to lift the blockade and restrictions on the movement of ships carrying food and medicine for the Yemeni people.
