Washington plans to make contacts with Moscow on security early next year

SANAA, Dec. 22 (YPA) – US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Washington plans to make bilateral security contacts with Moscow through NATO and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe early next year.

“We’re prepared to engage diplomatically through multiple channels,” said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a press conference Tuesday.

“I think you’ll see relatively early in the new year engagements in all of those areas, to see if we can advance the differences diplomatically,” added Blinken, referring to the existing US-Russia Strategic Stability Dialogue and through the NATO-Russia Council, as well as through the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

“Early next year we may see contacts on all these issues,” Blinken added.

“We have to see if progress can be made in overcoming differences through diplomatic procedures,” he said.

This comes following  tension between Russia and the West over the situation over Ukraine.
