Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator: the main goal of Vienna talks is to lift all US sanctions

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (YPA) – Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani said on Sunday that Tehran’s first goal of the negotiations in Vienna is to lift all sanctions against Iran.

“Actions now matter more than mere words. We should be offered a clear and transparent mechanism to ensure that sanctions will be removed,” Ali Bagheri Kani said a day before the start of the new round of nuclear negotiations in Vienna.

“The second objective of his country’s participation in the negotiations is to facilitate Tehran’s use of nuclear science within the rights of the Iranian people,” he added.

According to the Iranian diplomat, the West is not seeking an agreement but wants privileges from Iran.

He added, “the mistakes of the past should not be repeated. The Iranian people do not trust the nuclear agreement.”

Kani continued:  “The West needs to pay a price for having failed to uphold its part of the bargain. Iran will never be subject to military threats, sanctions and pressure. The Iranian people support realistic dealings with the West.”

He underlined that Tehran is ready for a fair and careful discussion, based on the principles of ‘guarantee’ and ‘verification.’
