Assistant police officer killed in armed attack in Hadhramaut

HADHRAMAUT, Nov. 19 (YPA) – A police officer loyal to the Islah party was shot dead Friday afternoon by unidentified gunmen in Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen, local sources said..

According to local sources, unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle attacked a military checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Seiyun, killing Walid Maddas, the assistant police office of the point and injured  several others.

The sources confirmed that the gunmen managed to escape after the attack.

According to the sources, the officer if from Amran province and one of the police force in the City of Seiyun.

The targeting of military and security posts in the Hadhramaut Valley comes amid demands from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) for the departure of the “First Military Region” which belonging to the Islah militants from the districts of Hadramaut valley, and the deployment of the “Hardhrami Elite” militia.
