Al-Qaeda mourns its emir killed in Marib

MARIB, Oct. 11 (YPA) – Al-Qaeda Organization in the Arabian Peninsula, Al-Jihad, in Marib province, mourned one of its senior military leaders, who was killed in the province by the National Salvation Government forces.

“Yasser Al-Omari, the top leader of al-Qaeda, was killed by the Yemeni army while he participating in the command of a brigade of the Saudi-led coalition forces, in the battles taking place in Abdiya district of Marib,” Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Jihad Base said in a statement.

The statement revealed: “The leader, Yasser Al-Omari, nicknamed Abu Tariq Al-Omari, who had a long march of fighting in the ranks of the terrorist organization, starting from Afghanistan through the land of Iraq and the Levant.”

Al-Qaeda’s statement explained that killed, “Yasser Al-Omari,” was one of the wanted by the US intelligence services.

“The Emir of the terrorist organization “Al-Omari” was arrested in Saudi Arabia and put in place in one of the Saudi prisons for several years before the Saudi authorities freed him to fight in Yemen.”

The statement clarified that Al-Omari fought in the ranks of the coalition forces with the terrorist organization, refusing to be given up to the Sanaa forces on Abdiya front until he was killed there last Saturday night.

According to local sources in Marib, that Prince “Yasser Al-Omari,” one of the commanders of the 156th Brigade of the coalition forces, was killed by fire of Sanaa forces in the battles that took place in the “Bani Abd” area of Abdiya district, after the besieged members of the organization rejected the initiative launched by the “Sanaa Government with a safe exit from the district.
