Syrian President receives head of Iran’s Consultative Assembly

SANAA, Jul. 28 (YPA) – The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received on Wednesday the head of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammed Baqir Qalibaf.

During a meeting, the two officials discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and the constructive cooperation between the two countries.

President al-Assad affirmed that Iran is a key partner for Syria by standing with the Syrian people in the face of the terrorist war, noting that the coordination between the two countries in combating terrorism.

In turn, Qalibaf considered that the recent electoral elections in Syria and Iran and the two peoples’ insistence in achieving has proved the failure of the pressure foreign policies.

The meeting stressed the importance of the essential role played by the parliamentary institution in Syria and Iran to open new horizons for bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic field, in a way that helps the two friendly peoples to confront the economic war and the siege policy.
