STC calls for ouster of Islah militants from Shabwah

SHABWAH, Jul. 17 (YPA) – Supporters of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia in Eastern Yemen’s Shabwah province have called for the removal of Islah militants from the city of Ataq following armed clashes between its factions in the city.

Activists affiliated with the STC said that the events of last Friday’s armed clashes between factions affiliated with the Islah party, proved that they are not qualified to take over security anywhere.”

“Shabwah clashes have caused terror among the people, and Muslim Brotherhood militants have refused to respond to the call of the civilians to stop the bloody confrontations between them in the streets of Ataq,” the activists explained

They added “the Islah militants lacks the most basic requirements for govern.”

Activists demanded that the “Shabwani elite militia” to come back to the Ataq city to maintain the security.

Last Wednesday, the city of Ataq witnessed violent clashes between factions affiliated with the Islah Party, leaving a number of dead and wounded.
