20 tons of expired seeds belonging to FAO destroyed in Saada

SAADA, Jul. 16 (YPA) – The Office of Agriculture and Irrigation in Saada province on Thursday destroyed 20 tons of expired seeds of corn, beans and various vegetables, which entered the country through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Director-General of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in the province, Engineer Zakaria Al-Mutawakel, explained that the destruction process took place through burial in the agricultural nursery in Al-Safra District, in coordination with the competent authorities.

He pointed out that these seeds had arrived through the FAO in 2019 for distribution to farmers, and included 15 tons of sorghum seeds, five tons of beans and a quarter of a ton of seeds of okra, onions and hot and cold peppers.
