Rights activist survives assassination in Taiz

TAIZ, Jun. 17 (YPA) – The human rights activist Hilal Abdullah Farhan was exposed to assassination attempt by four gunmen, affiliated with Islah Party loyal to Saudi-led coalition, in Al-Dahi district of Taiz province, local sources said on Thursday.

The gunmen were on two motorbikes when they fired a hail of bullets at Farhan’ car, the sources explained, noting that Farhan miraculously escaped from the shooting on his car, which was severely damaged.

Direct accusations were directed to the director of Al-Hasab police station, Fuad Fadhel, because of his previous threats to Fadhel following an argument between them, according to the sources.

Observers believe that the assassination comes against the backdrop of Farhan’s opposition to the corruption of the Taiz axis, which is led by Khaled Fadhel, Fuad’s brother.
