26 people killed, injured in armed attack in Afghanistan

SANAA, Jun. 09 (YPA) – At least 10 deminers were killed and 16 others wounded in an armed attack on their office in northern Afghanistan’s Baghlan province on Tuesday evening, local media quoted security sources as saying.

The attack, which was carried out by a group of masked gunmen, targeted an office of the American-British NGO HALO Trust in the Baghlan Marzaki area of ​​the state.

The injured and the bodies of the dead were taken to a general hospital in the city of Bul Khumri, in the center of Baghlan.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Tariq Arian, accused the “Taliban” movement of being behind the attack on the HALO Trust, which was denied by the spokesman of the “Taliban”. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The HALO Trust was established in 1988 and works in the field of demining and ordnance disposal worldwide, with a staff of more than 8,000 people.
