Southern politician: “Riyadh Agreement 3” aims to prolong Saudi Arabia’s war on southern provinces

SANAA, May 29 (YPA) – A prominent southern politician and academician said on Saturday that the negotiations of the so-called “Riyadh Agreement 3” are a waste of time.

The academician at the University of Aden and Chairman of the so-called “Southern Parliament,” Abdulrahman Al-Wali, affirmed in a tweet on Twitter that “Saudi Arabia is the decision-maker, and is seeking to prolong the war on the southern province.”

Al-Wali explained that the list of the names of the participants from “Hadi’s government” in the Riyadh negotiations, in its third version, are unknown, and they have not been announced by Saudi Arabia.

“Hadi’s government” left Aden city in mid-March, after the masses of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) stormed its residence in Al-Ma’ashiq Palace, in protest against the deterioration of basic services and living conditions and the delay in the payment of employee salaries since its return at the end of December 2020, based on the outcomes of the “Riyadh Agreement 2”, which failed to normalize the military situation in the provinces of Abyan and Shabwa.

In early November 2019, Hadi’s government and the STC signed the so-called “Riyadh Agreement” after the latter’s militia took control of the city of Aden in August 2019. It stipulated the exit of the STC militia from the cities of Aden and Zenjbar, the capital of Abyan, and handing it over to Islah Party loyal to Saudi-led coalition and Hadi.

Saudi Arabia summoned the STC delegation in the middle of last week, to resume the “Riyadh Agreement” negotiations after it failed to implement the agreement that granted it the right to militarily manage the southern provinces.
