FM stresses importance of rebuilding-confidence steps in any upcoming peace process in Yemen

SANAA, May 25 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Tuesday stressed the importance of implementing steps to rebuild confidence in any upcoming peace process in Yemen.

This came during his meeting in Sanaa with Director of the Office of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, Ayman Makki.

Sharaf affirmed the steadfast position of the political leadership in Sanaa, which stems from the principle of achieving complete and sustainable peace for the Yemeni people, represented by a comprehensive ceasefire and lifting the siege.

He pointed to the importance of these steps, as they are considered humanitarian and necessary, which will subsequently prepare for the holding of negotiations that include all parties to reach a sustainable political settlement.

The Foreign Minister indicated that ending the military aggression and the exit of foreign forces from Yemeni lands and lifting the siege imposed on the country would contribute to achieving the appropriate atmosphere for any negotiations between the various parties, including the aggressor countries.
