Sit-in in vicinity of US White House calls for lifting siege on Yemen

WASHINGTON, April 08 (YPA) – The U.S. capital, Washington, witnessed on Thursday a widespread sit-in in the vicinity of the White House to demand the lifting of the siege on Yemen and stopping the American administration’s support and arming of the Saudi-led coalition.

A large number of demonstrators participated in the sit-in, headed by the US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Media outlets reported that “Ilhan Omar” renewed its demand for the US administration to stop supporting and arming the coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, referring to the size of the human and material losses that affected Yemen due to the war.

Omar had previously attacked, in September 2020 and before that in May of the same year, her country’s policies in Yemen, and she accused the former White House administration of participating in Saudi and Emirati crimes against civilians in Yemen, as a result of its continued sale of weapons to the two regimes.

Saudi Arabia is the largest importer of US arms in the world, as it alone buys 22% of total US arms sales.
