FM congratulates his Iranian counterpart on Nowruz

SANAA, March 18 (YPA) –Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, sent a congratulatory cable on Thursday to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on the occasion of Nowruz.

In the cable, Sharaf expressed the appreciation of the National Salvation Government and the Yemeni people for the principled position of the Iranian government and people rejecting the military aggression on Yemen and calling for a peaceful political solution to end the war and lift the comprehensive blockade.

Nowruz is the Iranian New Year, also known as the Persian New Year, which begins on the Spring equinox, marking the first day of Farvardin, the first month of the Iranian solar calendar. It is celebrated worldwide by various ethno-linguistic groups, and falls on or around March 21.
